Today, for the first time in 45 years, I visited Belomorsk (until 1938, the village of Soroki from Karelian Soarijoki — island river)
In 7 hours between electric trains, I managed to see very little, but the general impression of the city remained very pleasant.

I have never seen such picturesque river and sea views, and in such quantity, anywhere else! A truly unique place! A real find for tourism investments!

The city is well taken care of, the port area (if I understood correctly from the explanation of the resident) I will especially note — comfortable sidewalks, new benches everywhere, everything is tidied up, trimmed and swept. I also want to note an important detail — a lot of houses (mostly 5-story buildings) have been completely «capitalized» — the facades have been painted, new roofs, storm drains, adjoining territory, etc. have been made.

A large number of bridges across several rivers, I think the residents of Belomorsk will agree, need repair — that’s what I would first of allocate funds to this city for.

And so, of course, the place is cool, to come, walk, visit museums, for such a small town the historical legacy of two Soviet leaders — the house of Yu. V. Andropov and the 19th lock of the White Sea Canal, where I. V. Stalin spoke in 1933 — is a rarity!

To go fishing, to go to the petroglyphs (I didn’t get there, but I really wanted to), and, most importantly, the people are pleasant, calm, nice.
Oh, by the way, as soon as I got off the train and walked to the area with residential buildings, a stunningly charming girl gracefully walked towards me (apparently to work, since she was in overalls)! I barely restrained myself from «I want to meet you»)))
